Welcome to my city.
I make art inspired by my thoughtscape and daydreams. Each painting is a page in my journal.
The Artist
KIRSTY BEKOE-TABIRI
I am a London-based multidisciplinary artist with a BA, MA, and MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Cambridge.
My academic background has definitely played a role in shaping my art. My "visual essays" are images produced by philosophical questionings with narrative depth.
My work often features women of colour and bespoke fashion concepts, blending London cityscapes with the Edenic diasporic landscapes of 'back home' .
I find that art highlighting minority groups often emphasizes struggle and trauma, but I create because I find beauty in it. To me, black women are beautiful, my fashion concepts are beautiful, and the landscapes I draw from are beautiful. Putting these elements together brings me joy.
