purring, clawing, biting at the world.

This painting is about the relationship between beauty, danger, and the multiplicity of self. I find the aesthetics of beauty in the context of femininity are either closely aligned with rigid captivity or reckless freedom. As the cage opens, and the tiger girls are (re) released, I wondered how their past captivity might affect their response to their new home.
